Chishima gikyo is an alpine plant that grows naturally on rocky areas in the summer season in the high mountains of Japan. For the first time in mid-July 2021, I traveled from Hakuba Village to the Happo-One Nature Trail in the Northern Alps by taking a gondola and lift. Taking pictures of alpine plants from the entrance at an altitude of 1,800 meters, I climbed slowly and found flowers like bellflowers blooming at an altitude of 2,000 meters. It was Chishima gikyo. I was immediately drawn to the bell-shaped purple beauty of Chishima gikyo when I saw it for the first time. I picked up my camera and took a picture of Chishima Gikyo with the remaining snow in the Northern Alps in the background. Chishima gikyo blooms magnificently even in harsh environments, and seems to be enjoying the short alpine summer.
