I consider ‘Crumbs’ one of the most ambitious self-portraits I have created to date. Inspired by the surrealist movement, this piece depicts an entitled and ravenous attitude towards the female body. On a practical level, I was able to complete it by dedicating myself to the endless test shoots, where I experimented with drawing and pressing objects onto my hypersensitive skin. This obsessive attention to detail can also be observed in the visual parallels between different elements of the scene (such as the scalloped plate and the edge of my dress, or the three folds in the cascading fabric that correspond to the protruding ribs).
