ROLL 1 // FRAME 7 Let’s see what develops. ROLLS is a new long term project from Dave Krugman, inspired by the interesting overlaps of blockchain and photographic film technologies. Both of these systems can be seen as decentralized, immutable time chains- whose value is determined by distributed consensus mechanisms. ROLLS seeks to highlight and amplify these commonalities, while also exploring the nature of trust between artist and collector. ROLLS begins with 10 tokens to be auctioned off in sequence on SuperRare. Each token is a placeholder that corresponds to one frame on a roll of film. Once all tokens are sold, Dave will go out with his Mamiya 7ii medium format film camera and shoot this one roll of film. Once the ROLL is completed, token metadata will “develop” and will be updated with the final art- high resolution film scans.
